A cat has been found hanged from a 6ft fence by a dressing gown cord at a Manchester church.
The white and ginger cat appeared to be healthy and the RSPCA is urging his owner, and anyone with any information, to get in touch.
The shocking discovery was made by a churchgoer heading to a service at Moston Spiritual Church on Church Lane, Moston just after 7pm on Monday night (20 November).
RSPCA inspector Danielle Jennings said: “At the moment we don’t know how this poor cat died.
“What we do know is that he was found hanged by the neck from a fence at the church, and that he appeared to be otherwise healthy.
“His body has now been sent off to post mortem so that we can try to establish what happened to him.”
The cat is described as an entire (un-neutered) male, mostly white with ginger markings on the top of his head and face and down his back and tail. He wasn’t wearing a collar or microchipped so at the moment there is no way of tracing his owner.
“We want to hear from anyone who thinks he may be their cat,” said inspector Jennings.
“Of course we also want to hear from anyone who saw anything at all or has any information that they think might help my investigation. Please call the RSPCA inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018 and ask to leave a message for me.”
