For some cats, a cat flap is an open invitation to come on in. It may sound harmless, after all, your cat might visit another’s garden, but for the resident cat knowing another has stepped over the threshold of their home can be a real problem – in some cases, the resident cat will even leave home!
So what’s the answer? No cat flap? For some cat owners, this isn’t an option.
But help might be at hand in the form of a new product that has launched in the UK to help combat this problem. It has been designed to cat owners the benefit of having a cat flap while making sure only their own cat can use to exit or enter the home.
The product is the PetSafe® Microchip Cat Flap (£79.99) and it works by reading a cat’s unique microchip ID, so no other accessory or collar attachment is needed. If you own more than one cat, not to worry, all you need to do is program each one (up to 40 can be programmed).
It has also been designed to keep the heat in with a built-in draught excluder and auto-latch with a four-way manual lock, for added security. We’re also told it’s suitable to attach to any type of door or window or even brick walls.
